FMCSA weekly report, 19–25 October 2026
So far in the week of 19–25 October 2026, FMCSA's Motus records showed 144 operating authorities go inactive (10 of them broker authorities) and 1 new authority application. Liability insurance dropped off 282 authorities and 5 surety bonds or trust funds went off file. On FMCSA's census, 42 carriers changed phone, email and address on the same day.
The week in numbers
Changes that can read STOP on a carrier check
A carrier left with no active operating authority, or with no liability insurance in force, reads STOP: it may not haul for hire.
Changes that can read CAUTION
A required bond or cargo filing that goes missing, and mail FMCSA could not deliver, each read CAUTION.
New, reinstated and changed records
Not a verdict on their own. Changing phone, email and address at once is often routine, and it is also the step a carrier identity theft needs, so CarrierScrub shows each change on the carrier’s page.
Every one of these can happen to a carrier you used last month. Check a carrier before you tender, or upload your carrier list to check them all at once.

How these are counted
CarrierScrub keeps a daily copy of two FMCSA open datasets on data.transportation.gov, Motus Carrier (each operating authority's status, required cover, liability, cargo and bond on file, and returned-mail flags) and the Company Census File (phone, email, address, name and status), and compares each day with the one before. These counts are the differences. Motus is compared in full every day. The census is compared daily for carriers that filed an MCS-150 update and in full once a week, so census counts run higher on the weekly sweep. A change FMCSA makes and reverses between two runs is not seen.
Weekly figures are the sums of the daily counts from Monday to Sunday (UTC), so an authority that changed twice in a week is counted twice. A day the comparison did not run, or on which FMCSA did not republish, is shown as not counted. Week-over-week changes are given only between two complete weeks with all seven days counted.
