No card to run a check, and no account either. A free account adds 25 lookups a month, batch upload, a watchlist and print packets -- then $1.00 a lookup, only when you need more. Paid plans remove that allowance and raise the Compliance Assistant's. The API and the MCP server for AI assistants work on every plan, unlimited on Agency. Shield dispatcher checks are $0.50 each and Deep checks $5 each on any plan. Every plan reads the same FMCSA filings and gets the same verdict.

Questions
Do I need a card to start?
No. The lookup needs no account at all, and the Pay-as-you-go plan needs a sign-in, with Google or an emailed link, and nothing else. A card is only asked for at Stripe checkout when an owner or admin upgrades to a paid plan, or buys lookup credits once the free monthly lookups run out.
What is the difference between the plans?
The lookup, the verdict rules and the FMCSA data are the same on every plan. Small Brokerage and Agency remove Pay-as-you-go's monthly lookup allowance entirely, raise the Compliance Assistant's daily allowance, and Agency makes API lookups unlimited. If you stay under 25 lookups a month and never touch the assistant, Pay-as-you-go is the right plan and we will not talk you out of it.
What counts as one of the three free checks with no account?
A distinct carrier per day. Re-checking the same carrier, reloading the page or sharing the result link with a dispatcher costs nothing; only a new carrier spends a check.
What happens after Pay-as-you-go's 25 free lookups a month?
Each further lookup costs $1.00, drawn from a prepaid credit pack (10 credits minimum) an owner or admin buys in Admin -> Billing. Nothing is charged automatically: a lookup beyond the free allowance with no credits left is simply refused, with a prompt to buy more or upgrade to unlimited. Free lookups reset on the 1st of the calendar month; unused credits carry over and never expire.
Can I use the API or connect an AI assistant without the Agency plan?
Yes. API keys and the MCP server for AI assistants such as Claude work on every plan. On Pay-as-you-go and Small Brokerage, each API lookup uses one of the brokerage's 25 free lookups that month, then a $1.00 credit, up to 100 API requests a day. Agency makes API lookups unlimited, up to 1,000 requests a day.
Do prices include sales tax?
Prices are in US dollars and exclude sales tax. Where tax applies, it is calculated from your billing address and added at checkout, and Stripe collects and files it as merchant of record. Your receipt from Stripe shows the tax separately.
What is a Shield dispatcher check?
Someone calls claiming to dispatch for a carrier. Give us the USDOT or MC number, the number they're calling from and, if you have it, the email they wrote from, and Shield tells you whether each matches the carrier's FMCSA registration and, through an independent verification service, whether the phone is a real, active line associated with the carrier's name and whether the email is real, deliverable and established. An email one letter off the carrier's own domain is called out. It states facts and gives one call -- GO, CAUTION or STOP -- the same way a carrier check does, and it never accuses anyone of anything. $0.50 per check, bought in packs of 20 or more that never expire; Small Brokerage includes 100 a month and Agency 500. A check that can't be completed is never charged.
What is a Deep check?
A Deep check looks past FMCSA’s record for one carrier: USPS data on its registered address (a mailbox store, a vacant or residential address), its Google listing, its website and how old its domain is, and the phone number on its FMCSA registration — which business phone records register it to, whether they link it to the carrier or its listed officer, whether it is flagged for spam or fraud activity, and which business Google lists for it. A hijacked registration often changes that phone first. It states facts beside the verdict and never changes it. 5 credits ($5) a check, 3 free once per brokerage; Small Brokerage includes 20 a month and Agency 100. Running the same carrier again within 24 hours is free, and a check that cannot be completed is never charged.
Is Pay-as-you-go really $0?
Yes -- no monthly fee, ever. You get 25 free lookups a month; past that it's $1.00 a lookup, bought as credits only when you actually need them. No card on file until you do.
How do I upgrade or cancel?
From Admin, under Billing and plan. An owner or admin picks the plan and pays through Stripe checkout; we never see or store the card. Cancelling from the same place takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Is there an annual plan?
Not yet. Every paid plan is monthly with no contract.
How does this compare with Carrier411 or BrokerSnapshot?
CarrierScrub costs less and asks for less. Pay-as-you-go is $0 a month: 25 lookups free every month, then $1.00 each, with batch upload of up to 1,000 carriers, the watchlist and verifiable packets included. Carrier411 lists $99/mo after a 30-day trial, and blocks trucking companies, dispatch services and six other business types from signing up. BrokerSnapshot starts at $100/mo with no free tier found, and its API starts at $300/mo, against $0 a month here (25 free API lookups, then $1.00 each) or unlimited on our $249/mo Agency plan.
