Context

New, reinstated and changed records

Not a verdict on their own. Changing phone, email and address at once is often routine, and it is also the step a carrier identity theft needs, so CarrierScrub shows each change on the carrier’s page.

Every one of these can happen to a carrier you used last month. Check a carrier before you tender, or upload your carrier list to check them all at once.

How these are counted

CarrierScrub keeps a daily copy of two FMCSA open datasets on data.transportation.gov, Motus Carrier (each operating authority's status, required cover, liability, cargo and bond on file, and returned-mail flags) and the Company Census File (phone, email, address, name and status), and compares each day with the one before. These counts are the differences. Motus is compared in full every day. The census is compared daily for carriers that filed an MCS-150 update and in full once a week, so census counts run higher on the weekly sweep. A change FMCSA makes and reverses between two runs is not seen.

Weekly figures are the sums of the daily counts from Monday to Sunday (UTC), so an authority that changed twice in a week is counted twice. A day the comparison did not run, or on which FMCSA did not republish, is shown as not counted. Week-over-week changes are given only between two complete weeks with all seven days counted. Check the carrier. Then tender the load.
Authority, insurance and contact details change every day, as the counts above show. A check takes a few seconds and is free for three carriers a day.
