Terms of Service
Not legal advice
CarrierScrub surfaces FMCSA data and applies a fixed, published set of rules to reach a verdict. It does not replace your own due diligence or legal counsel.
01Acceptance
CarrierScrub is a service of Hexoglyph Holdings, LLC, a Utah limited liability company, 829 W 25 N, Clearfield, UT 84015 ("CarrierScrub," "we," "us"). By creating an account, using the free lookup, using the chat on our pages, or calling the API you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 years old. If you use CarrierScrub on behalf of a brokerage, you confirm you are authorized to bind it.
02What the service does
CarrierScrub looks up a carrier by USDOT or MC number against FMCSA's published operating-authority and insurance filings and resolves them into a GO, CAUTION or STOP verdict with reason codes. The rules are fixed and published in the product. Sections of a result the service does not yet have data for are marked as pending, never estimated.
03Shield identity checks
A Shield check sends the phone number you enter, and the email address if you add one, together with the carrier's FMCSA-registered officer name, legal name and address, to a third-party identity vendor (currently Trestle) and reports back whether the vendor associates that number and email with that carrier, what kind of line it is, how active it is, and whether the email is valid, can receive mail and how long it has existed. The email is also compared with the address on the carrier's FMCSA registration; we name that address's domain, never its mailbox. It is a match signal, not an identification: the vendor does not tell us, and we do not tell you, who a number belongs to. A mismatch or a non-fixed VoIP line is a fact about the number as the vendor sees it, not a finding that anyone is impersonating the carrier, and Section 08 applies to Shield results exactly as it does to verdicts. Use Shield only on numbers given to you in the course of arranging freight with that carrier. Vendor data can be wrong or stale, and a check the vendor cannot complete is reported as such and not charged.
On a paid lookup — Small Brokerage, Agency, a Pay-as-you-go lookup paid with a credit, and every Shield check — we also send the telephone number and physical address on the carrier's own FMCSA registration to the same vendor and show, beside the verdict, whether the number is valid and active and whether the address is a real postal address. These facts never change the verdict, which is the same on every plan. They are limited per brokerage per day, are not run on batch uploads, and a check the vendor cannot complete is shown as unavailable.
04Assistant and chat
The Compliance Assistant and the chat on our public pages are answered by a large language model. Their answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, are not legal advice, and are not a verdict: nothing the assistant or the chat says changes a carrier's GO, CAUTION or STOP, and you should confirm anything you intend to rely on against the source it cites. The public chat may hand a conversation to a person when you ask for one, and may ask for your email address so we can reply; giving it is optional. Do not enter card numbers, passwords or other sensitive data into either. Our privacy policy describes what each one stores and where your messages are sent.
05API
API access, including connecting an AI assistant to our MCP server, is available on every plan. Keys and connections are created and revoked from the admin page, act on behalf of your brokerage, and every call they make is a lookup by your brokerage for the purposes of these terms and of your plan's usage. On Pay-as-you-go and Small Brokerage, each carrier lookup made through the API or a connected assistant uses one of your brokerage's free monthly lookups or a $1.00 credit, as Section 11 describes; on Agency, API lookups are unlimited. Calls are rate-limited per brokerage per day, with the limit and its reset time stated in the error you get when you reach it; a call over the limit is not charged. The API carries no uptime or response-time commitment. We may change it, and will announce breaking changes in the product before they apply, but we may withdraw a key or the API itself at any time for the reasons in Section 16.
06Data accuracy
Results reflect FMCSA's open data as of the record date shown on every result. A check uses the carrier's current FMCSA Motus record where one exists, and otherwise FMCSA's legacy Licensing and Insurance file, which FMCSA stopped updating on 14 May 2026; the dataset behind it is refreshed periodically, and every verdict shows the date of the record it was built from. FMCSA data can lag real-world events by days, and FMCSA itself may publish errors; we are not liable for decisions made on stale or incorrect upstream data. Disputes about a filing go to FMCSA's DataQs system.
07Not a consumer reporting agency
CarrierScrub is not a "consumer reporting agency" under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and a verdict, reason code, Shield result or other CarrierScrub output is not a "consumer report" as the FCRA defines it. CarrierScrub evaluates motor carriers as business counterparties for the purpose of arranging freight with them; it does not evaluate individuals. You agree not to use any CarrierScrub result, in whole or in part, as a factor in deciding a person's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other purpose the FCRA covers.
08Facts, not accusations
Every reason code states a fact FMCSA published and the date it was published, and every Shield result states what the identity vendor returned and when. No reason code alleges fraud, and a verdict is not a statement that any named company or person has done anything wrong. You agree not to present a CarrierScrub result as such.
09Acceptable use
- Do not resell, redistribute, or bulk-export CarrierScrub results, reason codes or Shield results as a data product.
- API keys belong to your brokerage. Do not share them outside your organization.
- Do not attempt to access another brokerage's lookups, watchlist, Shield checks, or packets.
- Do not use automated means to run lookups beyond the API and batch upload we provide.
- Do not run Shield checks on numbers you have no freight-related reason to check.
- Do not use the assistant or the chat to probe or attack the service, or to send our staff anything you would not send by email.
10Ownership
CarrierScrub owns the software, the verdict engine, the verdict rules, and the site content. Nothing here transfers any of that to you. You own the load numbers, notes, and other data you enter, and you grant us the license needed to store it and show it back to you and your organization.
11Plans and billing
The free lookup and the Pay-as-you-go plan cost nothing to hold: no monthly fee and no card on file. Pay-as-you-go includes 25 free carrier lookups a month; further lookups are $1.00 each, drawn from a prepaid credit pack of at least 10 credits you buy through Stripe checkout. Small Brokerage's lookups in the app are unlimited, but its lookups through the API or a connected AI assistant draw on the same 25 free lookups a month and $1.00 credits. Shield dispatcher-identity checks are $0.50 each, drawn from a separate prepaid Shield balance bought the same way, and are included in a monthly allowance on paid plans; a Shield check we cannot complete is not charged. Prices are in US dollars and exclude applicable sales tax, which is calculated and collected at checkout by Stripe, acting as merchant of record for these payments. Credits and Shield checks are one-time purchases, are non-refundable once bought, and do not expire. Paid plans (Small Brokerage, Agency) are billed monthly through Stripe, renew automatically, and can be cancelled from the admin page at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees and credits already paid are non-refundable, including for a partial billing period. We do not store card numbers.
A Deep mover check is a one-time $5 purchase for one moving company, with no account needed. It reports facts from outside FMCSA's record: USPS address data through Google, the company's Google listing, its own website and its domain registry. It sits beside the mover verdict and never changes it. You can open it again in the same browser for 24 hours from payment; after that, a current check is a new purchase. We do not store what it finds. If it cannot run within those 24 hours, email support@carrierscrub.com and we will refund it.
A Deep check is the same kind of report for a carrier, run by a signed-in brokerage or an API key: USPS address data through Google, the carrier's Google listing, its website and domain registry, and the telephone number on its FMCSA registration as phone records (currently Trestle) and Google list it, including the business a number is registered to and any spam or fraud-activity flag on it. Only business names are ever reported for a number, never a person's. It costs 5 credits; each brokerage gets 3 free once, Small Brokerage includes 20 a month and Agency 100, and included checks do not carry over. Running the same carrier again within 24 hours is free. A check that cannot be completed is not charged. It sits beside the verdict and never changes it, Section 08 applies to it as it does to verdicts, and we do not store what it finds. It runs on one carrier at a time and not on batch uploads.
12Print packets and verification links
A print packet is a snapshot of a result at the moment it was generated, with a sequential reference and a hash. Its public verification page shows only the carrier, verdict, issuing brokerage and timestamps. Load numbers, notes and the checker's name never leave your organization.
13Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS." WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT IT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT FMCSA OR IDENTITY-VENDOR DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT, OR THAT THE ASSISTANT OR CHAT WILL ANSWER CORRECTLY, AND WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THESE TERMS, TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS.
14Limitation of liability
CarrierScrub's total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid in the preceding twelve months. We disclaim liability for a carrier's actions after any verdict, including GO, and for any person's actions after any Shield result.
15Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold CarrierScrub harmless from any claim arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, your use of a Shield check on a number you had no freight-related reason to check, or your decision to tender a load based on a result we provided.
16Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account or an API key for violating these terms, for non-payment, or for activity that puts other brokerages' data at risk. You may stop using the service at any time; Section 11 governs what happens to billing when you do.
17Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
18General
You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger or sale of the business. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, plus anything they link to, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service.
19Changes
We may revise these terms. The effective date and revision number at the top of this page change when we do, and material changes are announced in the product before they apply.
