What each checks
CarrierScrub reads FMCSA's operating-authority and insurance filings and returns a dated GO, CAUTION or STOP by fixed, published rules, including a check for new authority registered at a revoked carrier's phone number under a different name. Safety rating, crash history and BASIC percentiles are marked PENDING on every result rather than shown as a pass. See the full verdict rules.
Carrier Assure says its score draws on six factors, from FMCSA safety records and insurance status to tracking reliability and community feedback. It runs on FMCSA records, inspections, violations, CSA scores, tracking history, insurance changes and user reports, uses Project44 data to check how often a carrier shares GPS tracking and meets pickup and delivery times, and compares each carrier with similar carriers. Its own disclaimer says the score is not an indicator of safety or a guarantee of performance.
What carriers have reported about A-F grades
Overdrive reported on 9 July 2024 that some carriers said Carrier Assure graded them on arbitrary criteria, even hearsay, and that only paying customers could discuss scores with the company. Those are carriers' claims as reported, not a CarrierScrub finding. A CarrierScrub verdict lists the FMCSA filing and date behind each reason, and a wrong FMCSA record is disputed through FMCSA's DataQs.
Who should switch
Brokerages paying $149 a month for a letter grade when what they need before a tender is whether the carrier's authority is active and its insurance is on file. CarrierScrub answers that for $0 a month, and states the filing and date behind every reason so a turned-down carrier can see why.
