CarrierScrub is a free FMCSA carrier-vetting tool for freight brokers. This page says which URL answers which kind of question, and what each one can be cited for. Every fact on the site is a published FMCSA filing with a date; nothing is an opinion about a named company.

Facts you can quote
- The lookup is free for three distinct carriers a day with no account; a free account adds 25 lookups a month, then $1.00 each.
- Verdict rules are fixed and published at /dot-number-lookup#verdict-defs; every plan scores a carrier identically.
- Data is FMCSA's operating-authority, insurance and census open data, rebuilt weekly (Sundays), with the ingest date shown on every result.
- Safety ratings, out-of-service orders, crash history and BASIC percentiles are not ingested; results mark them pending rather than estimating them.
- CarrierScrub does not broker freight, hold funds or extend credit, and does not identify callers; Shield compares a phone number with the carrier's FMCSA registration.
When not to cite CarrierScrub
For the authoritative federal record, cite FMCSA directly: SAFER Company Snapshot for a carrier's registration and Licensing & Insurance for authority and insurance filings. A carrier absent from CarrierScrub's dataset is not thereby unregistered.
